A message from the president
“I grew up in a small country low socio-economic town. We had a strong supportive community and recreational activities such as a drop in centre for teenagers. When I realised that BIMSARA could help the community with recreational activities, community support and creating a strong resilient community I was all in. I want to give back for the help and support I had. Our kids ( SMBI kids) deserve to have an opportunity to succeed, to blossom and to enjoy their childhood. Our community deserves to have the opportunities to join in, make friends & become supported & to be supportive.”

On behalf of BIMSARA, we acknowledge the Quandamooka People — the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters of the Bay Islands and the wider Redlands Coast. We honour their unbroken connection to Country, culture, and community, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
We recognise the deep cultural significance of these islands — Canaipa (Russell Island), Macleay, Karragarra, Lamb, Minjerribah, and Mulgumpin — and we acknowledge the stories, knowledge, and custodianship that have guided this Country for tens of thousands of years.
As a community organisation dedicated to uniting people across cultures, abilities, ages, and backgrounds, BIMSARA commits to walking respectfully alongside First Nation communities, celebrating their enduring culture, and supporting a future grounded in understanding and inclusion.
